The Eye on The Rainforest & Kinetochore 'Draw-Tings' are the latest in a body of work that are an experiment in visual acuity and the response of the brain-to-hands when the mind is cleared of clutter and chatter. The aim is to follow forms, exploiting the rapidity of the drawing process that is accessed in a state of intentional attention, or noesis, and the result can be seen as a universal download of patterns.

My medium of choice is paint for its fluidity as my foundation, and subsequent color pencil & pen-work allows my drawing hand to capture fine detail. A Draw-Ting is finished when there are no 'elbows sticking out'.

Having lived on the sea, as a diver studying coral reefs & the marine environment, and living & working in the rainforest of Puerto Rico, these latest pieces capture and examine the detail and beauty that the natural environment informs me of. I hope my work inspires further curiosity of all and everything that we can see, and all that we cannot see, and moreover, a profound respect for our biosphere.

This triptych from the ‘EyeOnTheRainforest’ Series takes a forest-view of encroaching urbanizations that are spreading rapidly over the island of Puerto Rico. The need to house people is not in question. It is the impact of transforming rainforest land to urban land that is highlighted, and the necessity for intelligent decisions based on sound environmental and planning policy. Urban development affects local and regional climate; causes damage on the periphery of the forest; has a direct effect on wildlife; temperatures around  urbanized areas tend to be higher than forestland altering the balance of water, threatening biodiversity and the balance of forest ecosystems.
